I plucked up the courage to contact Halifax about the refusal to open a new account and asked if it was worth trying to open an easycash account. the lady i spoke to said it would be ok to apply so i asked if there was any point if they would credit score us again. I was told that no credit checks are done for the easycash account so don't know what to do, any ideas?
I've just re read the halifax easycash details on their web site and you can't pay cash in over the counte...no good at all! never mind

    Hi

Have you tried the Co-operative Bank? We have a cashminder account with them and have access to Link cash machines / cash back/ and Post Office banking as well as internet access and a Visa electron Debit Card! You can pay cash in at the Post office too!

I think a few people on here have had good things to say about co-op personally I have never used them just need to make sure you are not dealing with any connected companies.

Just typed a lovely reply and this stupid computer lost it ahhhhh!!!

To cut a long story v short, i've applied on the phone to co-op! Very nice man explained that they don't credit score for the basic bank account but applications are often "referred" for checking. He didn't seem to think there would be a problem with our application though. They even called me back so that i didn't have to wait in the queue! Should know if ok by beginning of next week, which is cutting it fine to get all info to cccs for 17th for dmp to start on 1/9 but we'll see. Small steps eh? Feel much more positive than this morning.

    Thanks for help everyone,
    Jo

Apparently the Co-op have a backlog of applications for the basic bank account which means I still don't know whether we have a new account or not. Our papers are supposed to be back with cccs tomorrow for our dmp to start on Sept 1st so we'll miss our start date. I know its proably to do with the time of year and holidays etc but i just want to get going. It's hard enough staying on track as it is but with this and the postal strikes, i feel like i'm fighting a losing battle. As you can probably tell i'm felling sorry for myself today, sorry for whingeing on. Dh has a few days off work so should make the most of our time, but his lb flickers on and off at the mo and i'm sooooo easily led!
