Tell insurer I've sold?

It isn't always the case that you get charged for cancelling insurance.
I sold my car (to a scrap dealer) in early December and my insurance was due to run out mid Feb. I informed my insurers immediately and they wrote back to confirm and within that letter it said they would let me know if there was any refund due to me or charges due from me.
As I have heard nothing since I am guessing they were happy to end the policy and call it quits.
This was a policy paid in full up front though.
I would cancel if I were you.0 -
Definitely tell the insurer. Cancelling a temp cover is usually a smaller cancellation fee than that of a 12 month policy. As well the cancellation fee should be deducted from the refund of the pro rata deduction. Even if the cancellation fee is higher than the amount of the pro rata refund they should wipe that off. The insurance company doesn't want to insure a car under you name when you should no longer be liable.0

Ended up telling them. No fee and a pro rata refund.
(and it was a proper pro rata refund, so had I only wanted one day's cover it would have been much cheaper to take 30 days then cancel rather than just buy 1 day upfront)0
