They managed to negotiate a number of considerable improvements to the employers original proposals for USS changes! For example ... increased DB/DC threshold from £40k to £55k

Are you sure it wasn't £50k to £55k?

I copied and pasted the info direct from my employer...

USS told me verbally, but no clue as to what I am (aside from an irritant :D).

So basically, I'm paying around £100 monthly but have no information how (or whether) this will benefit me in any way as it is excluded from all records, and all calculations.

    Fantastic, eh? :D

Hence why I'm wondering whether to stop paying, and save it.

I reckon either you are a MAM or your roles are counted as only one eligible employment. You are paid more than one salary and not one salary plus a number of additional responsibility allowances?

The original proposal was £40k. It was then increased to £50k and finally agreed at £55k

Most of my colleagues are not UCU members and are almost completely unaware of all of these changes. Quite surprising, to say the least.

The first is not at all surprising to me; the second is only mildly surprising. One thing that posts on this forum have made abundantly clear to me is that expensive pension schemes are a poor tool for attracting and retaining staff, because so many will be so hopelessly vague about anything to do with pensions. It would be far better for the employer to offer a minimal scheme and just pay people more.
