credit card debt repayments

I have recently been in contact with my creditors to inform them that I have no income and that the only money available is from my late stepfathers estate. I offered a reasonable offer full and final settlement figure, also informed them that I have moved to the United States. one of my creditors came back by letter refusing my offer and saying they would accept what amounts to the full amount minus a few hundred pounds ! Have repeated in asecond letter that the offer I gave is all I have and still waiting for a reply. OK now that bit is over my question is if they still refuse to accept my offer can they chase me here in the United States ? Or is it normal practice for them to just write the debt off.
