No response from bank for information about charges

Not sure what to do now. I wrote to my bank with the £10 cheque for details of charges, they didnt respond or cash the cheque. I wrote again giving them 10 days to acknowledge my request with a copy of my original letter and still no response and now this hold has been placed and I dont really know if they ever got the letters and will they claim they didnt. Should I write again with copies of the original letters and record the delivery. Also, even though they dont need to deal with any claims right now, shouldnt they still give me the information I requested?

Have you given them the 40 days they're entitled to?

I'm a bit new to this so making a complete mess but thanks anyway. I did give them the 40 days and then wrote giving them 10 days before I wrote to the Information Commissioner but still nothing.

The Data Protection Act hasn't changed and has nothing to do with the test case, so the banks are still obliged to supply you with the information you requested.
