    Hi Paul

Its a Vostro 1500. Basically just need it for 'general' use and a few (not particularly complex) games.

You can get a Dell 6400, 1.86Ghz Core Duo, but without an upgraded graphics card for £446 - everything else about the machine seems to be the same. Dell code 305 N07643.

I guess it depends if you are going to be doing any graphics intensive work? ie, gaming etc.

If its only going to be surfing, word docs, music and that sort of thing then you'd be getting a faster processor and saving yourself almost £100 :money:

Otherwise if you need the graphics the machine you've picked looks good to me.

Dont forget to go via quidco to get 4% cashback

Cheers mate. I hear that it is really difficult to upgrade the graphics later so thats why I would like it all singing all dancing now.

According to https://www.aldi-stores.co.uk/ they are going to be selling a laptop soon. It may be worth waiting for.

I can't find this one on the site under this code but looks quite a lot like what I need?

OP what did you decide on in the end? I am not sure whether to go for the vostro 1500 or the 1000 but the 6400 mentioned sounds good too. So confused with it all  Just posted on hotukdeals about this

  • We use dell laptops at work and we find that they tend to break down very often. Alienware have some good deals on at the minute and are a good well built laptop.
Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best

Just because it's free don't mean it's good

    Ditch Norton Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall:

Just Because you read it some where don't mean it's right ;)

But the thing is alienware is owned by dell, and is about twice as expensive.

Theres a 6400 for some better, some similar specs for £411 before dell bargains/quidco.

I just priced it up and am going to order it tonight.

I got it through the small business section -> Latitude models -> The third option, but with 1 year warranty rather than three.
