Car Breakdown Service with Existing Problem

Hi,
Always kept my cars AA/RAC covered but recently havn't due to loss of job last year. Since starting new job 3 weeks ago I HAD planned to redo car cover BUT this morning its got a suspension problem and not reliable to get to garage for repair. Would a breakdown cover company like AA accept me then also inheret the fact it needs taking to a garage also?. Ideas or other thoughts?

What do you expect them to do when they come out, usually nowadays, they take you and your vehicle to your destination, home or a garage.
  • Think you have to wait 24-48 hours after joining before you can call them out. You usually have to be quarter or half a mile away from home also unless you have home start cover, but that's usually for car not starting, not suspected suspension problems.

Are you expecting a breakdown company to deliver your car from your home to a garage for a suspension repair?.

You could join AutoAid (£39) then call out a local breakdown outfit, then send the bill to AutoAid.

It might be cheaper and more ethical to call a local garage and ask them to collect the car on a trailer.

AA/RAC are very wised-up about people joining just to save a few bob on recovery costs for an existing problem. If they didn't, no-one would ever take out a subscription, but just wait for the car to break down and then join when it happens.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

You can call them out if you are a non-member and join up there and then when you need them. You just pay a bit more.
