Faulty gas cooker

Hi folks
I bought a gas cooker in September 2013. It has a two year guarantee.
The cooker wouldn't stay lit if turned down low and was going rusty and the enamel coming off all along the panel near the control knobs.
Contacted the manufacturer on 22 Dec and it was finally 'mended' last Friday (30 Jan)
I say mended but it still goes out when turned low and nothing has been done about the rust etc. Also the repair man has chipped lots of enamel off under the gas rings whilst he was undoing some screws.
Can I reject this cooker and ask for money back?
I paid for it on credit card.

You can certainly ask for your money back, but at this stage you can't insist on it. The retailer must repair, replace or refund you. You can state your preference, but you can't force them into an option that is disproportionately expensive compared to the others. If you did get a refund they are allowed to reduce it to account for the use you have had.
Paying on credit card is good if the cooker cost more than £100. You can make a Section 75 claim against the card provider, and they are jointly and severally liable for the contract with the retailer. That basically means that any claim you have against the retailer can be made against the card provider if you want.0 -
You will find they will deny the rust issue and say it's the use of harsh cleaning causing damage to the enamel allowing it to wear through allowing for water penetration, a standard get out clause.0
