No more snow last night, just a slight dusting of frost this morning.
No real plans for today other than to do something with the oxtail I bought yesterday. The BBC Food website has a promising looking recipe for an oxtail stew so I might have a go at that after lunch and leave it in the oven all afternoon as it needs about 3hrs cooking. Haven't used oxtail before as the tins of Oxtail Soup as a child always put me off the taste so I hope I like it in the end!

Good wishes to everyone and stay warm

Morning all! Very cold outside. Sent DS16 down to the surgery on foot for his blood test so I didn't have to defrost the car, feel a bit guilty but he survived. DH going up to Edinburgh later to do a roadside night shift, which will be a new experience, if not a pleasant one.

More marmalade on the go, probably the last batch this year. Need to make shepherds pie for dinner tomorrow, and it will be an easy bung it in the oven dinner of fish and chips tonight.

    Keep warm everyone.

Good Morning chums bit nippy this morning although none of the white stuff thank goodness at the moment anyway .
DGS broke his brace whilst playing Rugby at school so its orthodontists tomorrow not happy as I had planned something else but needs must when the devil drives.
Very small spend yesterday at least and this month is quite a short one so only 24 days left in it .I'm hoping for a decent wodge of food budget cash to go into holiday fund this month. As I'm not going far at the moment my diesel is doing well too :):).We're all going up to see DGS ben in Norwich on the 21st and will take him a 'Ben box' of food .Being a penniless student isn't much fun especially when its cold so my cupboards will be raided for tins and bits and bobs for him
I got the new Stuart Macbride book yesterday from the library so I intend to put my feet up for a good read later.
Have a good day everyone and keep well wrapped up if possible

    Afternoon all.

Van all cleaned and left for the farmer to put under cover. Spent a couple of hours on Bude beach with the Girls. It was too cold and windy yesterday.

Ate fish and chips on the sea front and we are on our way home now. Pity, the weather seems to be getting warmer.

    Onwards and forwards,

    Have a great day all.

This leaving work early isn't all it's cracked up to be, I'm trying to fit in so many things after work I'm not getting home until 6 most days, lol.

I've bought a new sewing machine, I had an all singing all dancing one but it gave up the ghost after about 30 years, I couldn't afford another one so have made do with a 2nd hand straight & zigzag stitch machine.

Well I found one on offer, it was originally £500 but I got it for half price, still a lot of money, but it get a lot of use.

    Have a good evening everyone

    Hugs Hester

    Evening all,

Had a brilliant day at the Aquarium - they have Penguins too which was a lovely surprise. They are so funny :) Then we had a lovely boat trip from the Eye to Greenwich. It was lovely to see the view from the River. Back home to leftover beef casserole.
  • Have been busy for the last few days and haven't got around to posting on the daily.

We have had lying snow for the last couple of days and it has been bitterly cold.
I must order in some more logs and get some coal from the farm.

The fluorescent bulb blew in the kitchen the night before last, but I managed to cook using a couple of lanterns and the push lights that I have under the cabinets. It cost £8.99 for a new bulb  I swear it was only £4.99 the last time that we bought one.

I have another appointment at the hospital in London again tomorrow, that will be another £12 no doubt on parking :( Even with a disabled badge:mad::mad:

Marie it is great to hear that the hip operation was so successful xx

DH will be home at 9pm after swimming, so I will cook him something like pork chop and chips for dinner.

    BFN xx
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
