Somewhere central-ish, but not mad noisy for a 2 night stay for the parents mid-September (ish) please.
I'm toying with the Travelodge but it's a fair way from the centre of town by the looks of things.
Also, any recommendations of what to do once they're there please.
Thanks

Hi supermezzo,
having bagged some ryanair 1p flights to Dublin I';ve ebeen checking hotels. I suggest you try www.centralr.com which has a range of central hotels at what seem to be very competitive prices.
I think there was also a recommendation for Hardings Hotel on here recently a quick google will find it.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -

When we went to Dublin we stayed in the Jurys hotel at Croarke Park, 10 minutes walk into the city centre...highly recommended hotel. If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0

try www.dublintourist.com Generally speaking anywhere in Dublin 1 or 2 is City centre .I would say avoid anywhere near the airport as they don't have public transport .If you are looking a B&B rather than a hotel ,Gardiner Street is full off them .There is a Jurys hotel at Custom House Quays . Which has quad glazing . You wont hear a sound . One last thing ,avoid the third weekend in September .There is a big footie match and prices go up .0

Hmmm. Spoilt for choice, to piggy back on the OPs post but wanting the same thing (i.e. have sent the parents over to dublin for the night for 4p now need to find a reasonably priced hotel for them)
Have the choice of Best Western Ashling 97 euro, jury's custom house 97 euro, jury's parnell 97 euro or comfort inn parnell or granby row - both 89 euro.
Before you think well at that price, any would do, parents rather than me are ridiculously price concious and would have my guts for garters if they thought I had wasted 8 euro :-)) Also, surely one of these may be slightly better than the other.
The folks aren't bothered about their room (as long as it is clean) but my mum likes to moan about noise if she gets the chance. Apparently, they will also be getting a LOCAL bus from the airport as they have heard (down the club) that there is one for some ridiculous low price rather than the steep 5 euro for an airport bus ! So if anyone knows that this bus (mythical in my opinion) drops off near any of these, that would be a help.
Any help much appreciated

www.dublinbus.ie You are correct about using the local bus ,however you do need the correct fare. Any local buses from the airport wiill drop off near Jurys , Or Comfort Inn .You could also look at www.hazelbrookhouse.ie .cost wise similar to a hotel but breakfast is included . I have stayed in Jurys parnell street and custom house .The custom house is slightly dated but only opened about 10 years .Parnell street is newer but the walls are like paper . Last time i was in dublin I stayed 1 night in parnell street and moved to the custom house for the second night .bth I got £5 back from quidco for each night .If you dont like the trafic noise then jurys custom house is a good bet ,its got quad glazingHmmm. I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
PM me if you want a 4% discount code.
I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere, as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.
Hope that helps
PS - I'm not connected to this website in any way, and I don't gain anything from this post. I also found the discount code on another forum.0 -
Just back from Dublin ,we stayed here : http://www.camdencourthotel.com/
Staff and food fabulous ! really nice hotel, clean and no noise in our room (2nd floor, rear view) booked with www.octopustravel.com
Location good, bus stop few mins walk away if they didnt want to walk ,but you do need the correct coins ,the driver doesnt give change or take notes !!
recommend the hop on/off tour bus 15E for 24 hour ticket http://www.dublincitytours.com/0
