Hi,
I have SYMANTEC Firewall, AVG anti-virus, SPYBOT, ADAWARE and SPYWAREBLASTER, all of which I update regularly.
My ISP , in its' wisdom downloaded there own anti-apyware program which immediaetly announced it detected and blocked TIBS C, a trojan.
I did a Google search and had a quick panic. Immediately updated scanner and checkers. Shut down PC and rebooted in safe-mode, ran AVG and all the other Spyware checkers - nothing found!
Restart and guess what, AOL, for that is there name, found TIBS C again.
Ran NOD32, KASPERSKY and AVG , nothing.
Contacted AOL, they insisted that there was something thereand there software was doing its; job.
Decided to experiment, turned off System restore, reboot in Safe Mode and run AV and antispyware - nothing found.
Turned off AOL software, thus trojan will not be detected and blocked.
Checked firewall traffic, no problems, nothing being blocked, CTRL-ALT-DEL , TaskManager no suspicious processes and checked up MSCONFIG othing starting up I did not know about.
Ran KASPERSKY, NOD32 and a few others nothing found.
Turned on AOL software, bingo it is back, TIBS C. returns.
Any ideas?
Jo

Any ideas?
Yep, spotted the problem straight away. "Turned on AOL software"
I don't think you'll find a single person who'd recommend having ANY of AOL's software on your pc.

Nobody requires it. In the same way that nobody requires a splinter in their finger. There's nothing the AOL software actually gives you other than a headache. You can connect to AOL without any of their software and do anything you need to online without it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Hi,
Yes I know I can dumo AOL, I have even got rid of Norton, but how do I know if these TIBS C warnings are genuine.
If they are, how do I get rid?
Is Leomburkes' suggestion saf?

You could try it but I'd check by going through the malware removal guide sticky first and if it wasn't detected all through that it'd be safe to assume that it doesn't exist on your pc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
