We want an Easter school holiday Half Board break for a family of four for one week.
Last time we went we stayed in a really nice four star hotel in Playa las Americas on Tenerife. When we traveled around by bus we saw some grim places and would like to avoid them again. There was not much of the oldy worldy left on the island but what there was we found it. The old volcano was interesting too and a non tourist town to the north of the greener side of Tenerife.
I need recommendations really of what to book, where to go, what to do and what is a good price.
I have had a look at the prices at Easter and seem to be around £2000 for the four of us is that reasonable?

Puerto Mogan on Gran Canaria?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Unfortunately although it sounds idyllic, there is a good spread of grim places on Tenerife..a bit like Blackpool with sun and con men.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Welcoming, tolerant Gran Canaria offers a little something for everyone. Families flock to the water parks and beaches of Puerto Rico. Those seeking peaceful escape scamper to Mogan's quiet fishing villages. Gay visitors crowd the bars, restaurants and beaches of Playa del Ingles. Urban attractions are on offer in Las Palmas. Three highways open up the island for those with a rental car or a bus schedule. Prime sites to visit include Iglesia de San Juan Bautista de Arucas and Palmalitos zoo park.Puerto de Mogan is a picturesque resort and fishing village on the southwest coast of the island of Gran Canaria. The canals and bridges of its seawater inlet have earned it the nickname "Little Venice." Along the marina, you'll find an assortment of restaurants and bars, while the old town area is full of quaint, Mediterranean homes and cottages climbing up the hillside. Puerto de Mogan is a major stop for ocean yachts travelling from the Atlantic to the Caribbean. In case, like, you have a yacht and want to take it to the Caribbean.
That sounds more like it not Blackpool at all now I just have to find a good deal MSE style? So far I have looked at Thomas Cook and On The Beach
I'm looking for the best/cheapest Half Board package holiday for 7 nights flying from London.0 -
Lanzarote is lovely and not as commercially developed as Tenerife, for example, there's certain planning laws in place to preserve the traditional feel of the place. We stayed in Playa Blanca last year and had a lovely time. We hired a car (about £150 for 2 weeks!) and travelled around the whole island. It really is such a beautiful place, and I'd love to go back sometime soon.
We're heading to Fuerteventura in 8 weeks, and from what I've heard, it has a similar vibe to Lanzarote.
Can't comment on hotels, as we stayed at the Hotel Volcan in PB on a B&B basis.0 -
"Playa Blanca" means "white beach," and indeed, travelers flock here to swim and sunbathe. Huge yachts bob up and down at the marina, where you'll also find many shops and restaurants and a lively market. TripAdvisor travelers say Montana Roja is not "particularly strenuous" and offers amazing views from the top.
Fabulous now I just have to find a good deal MSE style?

Have a look on the usual travel agents websites and see what the best deal you can find is, then post it on the 'Beat my quote' thread on this forum. I did it last year and got a good deal.
For our trip to Fuerteventura in 8 weeks, I booked the flights direct with Ryanair and found a great all-inclusive hotel deal on Alpharooms. You have to pay the flights in full, but can pay a deposit for the hotel and pay the remaining balance nearer the time.
There's some lovely looking 4 star hotels in Lanzarote offering half board, which have great reviews.0 -
I prefer Lanzarote out of all 4 of the main 4 islands. No high rise buildings are allowed and it generally feels more pleasant. Read my post about Lanzarote on another thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/67624110#Comment_67624110.....0
