Which island are you going to? Will you be on one only or hopping between the different ones? If staying on one, is it Sal or Boa Vista? How long are you starting. BV has the most stunning beaches, but there is very little to do on the island. Visit to the main town, which is a quick visit or the tour of the island, which is ok, but again, that's only a day at most. Sal has more to do and see I believe.
It will be very pleasant in March and if you don't want to do much but enjoy a quiet beach holiday, then it is perfect. The beach and weather of the Caribbeans but at half the price.0 -
Weather of the Caribbean? I understood that there were strong winds, that bother some people...
The most settled islands have lots of music, history, and things to do, but sadly they are not served by holiday flights, and getting to them from Sal or BV can be very expensive.0 -
We went a few Christmases ago, and well, we wouldn't go again!
I know that some people who love all inclusive hotels (with families etc...) have been very satisfied - but for us there was nothing to do.
It was like landing on the moon flat and nothing, for as far as you could see, had little to do (as above poster says on one of the islands served by holiday flights), little culture or identity - we could have been anywhere! Nice big beaches, was quite windy and the weather varied! Having been to Gambia and Senegal (which are relatively close) we were really disappointed0 -
Thankyou so much for your feedback guys,
The island we are looking at going to is sal and the hotel riu fanana.
We are still open for suggestions of where else we can go for our honeymoon i anybody can suggest elsewhere that is nice at that time of the year?0 -
I know a few couples who have gone back to the Funana a few times....they love it. We are actually thinking of trying it this year. We have been to the Touareg 3 times on Boa and loved it...beautiful beach but very dangerous sea...and absolutely nothing outside the gates. This is all due to change over the next few years though as they big plans for the island. Anyway hope you enjoy wherever you end up!0

That's very true. We were lucky when we went that it wasn't too bad, but yes, that can be very unpleasant, however, very little chance of rain, the airport on Boa isn't even covered!
I think it very much depends what you are looking for. We loved it because what we were looking for at the time was a resting holiday with some early spring warmth and sunshine, and nice walks on the beach without jet lag and at a price we could afford. It was ideal for this and great for the kids. Saying that, we did have a great time exploring the island with a lovely local man who taught us quite a bit about the islands. We also saw whales. The driving over the dunes was quite an unforgetable adventure! I certainly wouldn't have stayed more than a week though.
I am now more into adventurous holidays so if I wanted to go back, it would involve island hopping, but indeed, it then becomes much more expensive.0
