Buying dirty products

I have bought a booster seat style high chair for my son from Argos today. I went to set it up as soon as I got home to find it was dirty, had bits of food in it, stains and crayons marks. I have contacted customer services who have just told me to take it back to store, but there is a chance the store won't take it back as it's dirty!! What are my rights here, and are stores allowed to sell returned and used goods like this?
Thank you.
Thank you.

The store aren't able to sell used goods as if they were new. You're entitled to have a clean product.0
