We are wanting to get a mortgage but our credit score is 641 in the poor zone. What are the chances, can anyone offer advice please

    No idea what you mean by "our" credit score. These things are for individuals.

    Your credit score alone is meaningless with regard to answering the question. No mortgage lender will see that score.

    You (and anyone else who is hoping to buy a property with you) needs to look at the detail information on your own credit reports with each of the 3 credit reference agencies to see what they show.

    If you have any adverse information on them then it may then be sensible to speak to an independant mortgage broker to see whether they think you will be able to get a mortgage based on your credit files, your finances, what deposit you have and what value of house you are looking at.

    So ignoring the score - what data is showing on your credit files?

    What negatives are on your reports? Do you have a record of missed payments? any defaults? CCJs? any record of insolvency?

    Do you have a high level of debts?

    Is your credit file showing you as being on the electoral roll?
