Help on negative credit point (EE)

Hi All,
Would appreciate advice. I have just been declined an application for Santander credit card. I have checked my credit rating as I was pretty surprised and found I have one negative which is due to starting a mobile phone contract with EE despite being on Orange for 14+ years (their change not mine). Has anyone else had this problem or indeed knows how to fix it? Also by being declined does this affect my credit rating? Thanks

The entry from EE shows all payments made on time?
By a negative point - is this one of those suggestion comments from the particular credit reference agency you checked? If so I wouldn't pay it much attention.
A single new service agreement on your credit file is very unlikely to have caused a credit card provider to have declined your applicationA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I have since contacted Experian directly who have advised to send a note of correction stating it appears as new as a company has been taken over by another. Hopefully that will resolve things. If anyone has any more advice, gladly received.0

Tixy, thank you for your reply. Having contacted Experian, they also said that the fact the electoral register was not updated for the current address and application address, that was also an issue so I have addressed that.
In reply it was a note from Experian on my credit report and also I had made all payments on time.
Despite sorting these bits out I am worried that this declined application will mean application for another card may be declined also...0 -
It should not show as an additional entry on your credit report. If however you have migrated to EE (4G) from Orange, then it may show as a new agreement, but the old Orange one should be finished now. This is completely normal and won't cause any detriment to your credit status.
Also, they don't re credit check you when migrate from Orange to EE (4G) so that won't have had a negative effect either. Experian are talking out of the air holes with that methinks.
Edited to say, it is more likely your lack of electoral roll registration that is causing you problems. What else is on your report? Have you any other credit repayment history (either negative or positive)?0 -
I definitely wouldn't put on a notice of correction for something like that.
The electoral roll may well be a factor in the santander decline.
Regarding this decline affecting future declines - it will not show on your credit file that this lender declined you, all that will show in a credit application search was made.
A single credit application search won't have a huge impact, although many applications close together can have a short term impact on your ability to get accepted for new credit.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
