Cheshire BS helpline

Just waited 30 mins to get through and had to endure 30mins of various Take That songs!!! Arrrgggghhhhh!!!

At least it was a 0800 freephone no.

call 0800 195 1514 and listen.

If anyone is interested, I was calling with regards to the Cheshire Reg issue 3. When it matures, the money will be transferred to the easy saver as usual and you can continue to save for a further 12 months with a new fixed rate. They will send out letters. Remember to adjust the date of the standing order so that it reaches the account after maturity.

As you spoke to them I'm curious if you learned what that fixed rate was?

To be honest, I didn't ask. My account matures mid September so no point asking until nearer maturity but I hope it's not another 6% special.

Uulp! It's only 6.0% fixed for another year - got my letter today!

A better account is already available if you (like me) have a maturing Issue 3 opened in 2005 and that is the "Member's Privilege" regular saver - paying 6.05% currently with more flexible paying in limits and carries on beyond 12 months of course.

  • I'm off up to Leyland tomorrow with a view to joining Chorley for £20 per month, not the best rate but respectable enough to afford membership. I see that Cheshire have a branch there so I will be upgrading my regsave to a Members Privilege regsave in person to avoid the society the cost high 'phone bills. (Just following my doctors recommendations and getting out more).

i opened chorley ongoing reg saver on 4th august by post, as a membership bagger, as amounts have to be the same for first 12 months i did 35.00 a month so as to hit the magic 100.00 level in 3 months.

if u visiting a branch can u ask them where we stand re bonus opening an account part way through the year, and at what stage can someone change the agreed monthly payment, ie if they say we will still get the bonus on 30th june does that mean from 1st july following year someone can change the monthly payment. if they say we wont get the bonus on 30th june ask them if that means that someone cant change the monthly payment in second year either without losing bonus in that year.

"3.60% (gross p.a.) bonus will be credited/paid on the 30th June each year provided there is a balance as at the previous 30th June plus 12 agreed consecutive monthly investments received and no more than one withdrawal is made between 1st July and 30th June each year. "

good u getting in this month, sniff the chorley passbook and wallet holder when u get it. ;)

My last two calls to Cheshire averaged 20 minutes wait. Clearly they are skimping on customer service in a desperate attempt to make up for past mismanagement and losses / low profits. The management denies it, of course.

august 2005 Cheshires current COE. http://www.fmwf.com/newsarticle.php?id=93&cat=21

"Speaking at Cheshire's head office in Macclesfield last week, McCormick said: 'We can do things better. We need to listen more to customers and be proactive in changing when they tell us we're doing something wrong.' Her career has been spent in retail, including spells at Sainsbury and GUS, so she knows the importance of customer service."

:rotfl:   :( :lipsrseal  _pale_  :silenced: :wall:  :rolleyes2
"It’s like being any other type of retailer, except we’re in charge of people’s money,” she says. “That’s a huge responsibility and demands a
very special kind of customer service.” cheshires current COE august 2006. waiting.gif waiting.gif waiting.gif

please note im not a "carpetbagger" i merely enjoy forum topics regarding mutuality, mergers and/or merger/conversion payouts
Oh really? You could have fooled me :rotfl:
i opened chorley ongoing reg saver on 4th august by post, as a membership bagger
im splitting my ex portman isa, sent off transfer in applications to 2 building societies on the weekend
luckily i only had a universal monthly saver which although was poor paying i only funded 10.00 a month into it.
I suppose the £320 net windfall helped make up for the appalling loss of interest .
its newcastle BS offering savings products to BMW audience, newcastles intention is that their own savers wont find out as newcastles savings product rates are inferior to those offered via BMW, i opened a "bmw" e-saver other month so i could finally chuck my long standing poor paying newcastle account, no transfers are allowed from any newcastle accounts to any newcastle BMW account, so i opened BMW e-saver first then closed my newcastle savings account, BMW accounts are newcastle share accounts.
You crack me up sometimes, blf, :rotfl:Keep 'em coming

    400.00 cos im a non taxpayer. clap.gif

in the case of universal BS i made a withdrawal on the day that it turned out that merger proposal with newcastle BS was announced reducing the balance to 90.00 as i timed fact that the then current monthly 10.00 was going in, standing order payment of 10.00 went in same day as both withdrawal by post and universal merger announcement.
