Basic Bank Account to avoid linking of credit profiles?

I have just moved in with my partner and we are at that stage of working out how to manage joint expenses. They won't be onerous, less than GBP250 a month each, I reckon. We're thinking of setting up a joint account to manage this, preferably one with some kind of debit card facility.

We both have good credit records (and current accounts and credit cards of our own) but can't see any upside at the moment from having each other linked at the credit reference agencies as "financial associates".

If we applied for a basic bank account (like the Co-op Cashminder, Halifax Easycash or HSBC Basic Bank Account) my understanding is that we wouldn't be linked because these accounts don't report to the CRAs. Is this right?

We'd like the convenience of SOME limited joint finances without the downside of potentially causing trouble on each other's files if there were problems later down the line.

Has anyone any reactions? Suggestions? Guidance? Any glaring flaws in my suggestion?
