I'd be very surprised if you could buy a new appliance without the flame failure device. It's certainly been a legal requirement for rented properties for several years and forms part of the annual gas safety check.0

Ours has flame failure devices and so does the one in our static caravan. Neither are particularly new.0

all new gas cookers have to have the cut off, as said get one with the lid cut off too, for double safety.0
