transaction pending, now disappeared, AMEX

Hello,

I booked last week a couple of flights through Amex platinum service, however, the transaction were pending till yesterday, and now its disappeared!

did anyone had that before? I mean, its not added to my balance and its not pending any more. what happened there? flights are still confirmed through BA.

Pending just means its authorised so the funds are ringfenced. That will automatically drop off once either (a) the funds have been collected or (b) a few days to a week passes without the funds being collected.

Not sure the time limits for AmEx but for Visa and Mastercard the merchant has 6 months to collect the monies after you give them permission so the authorisation dropping off doesnt mean anything material to you other than to be careful with card limits as you could overspend but assuming this is a Chargecard then its a non-issue anyway

It's a common occurance with BA. It'll post in a couple of weeks. Anex merchants have up to 5 months to collect payment.

My Amex travel bookings took 4 weeks to be posted to my charge card and the Barclay Amex. It will happen.

Oddly I used the points to buy car hire and they were instantly deducted.

Anyone booking a holiday should use Amex. Love the month delay!
