Amazon MarketPlace "BEWARE"

hi, i didn't know where to put this.

i recently received a E-mail from Amazon telling me that the phone i had listed had been sold the funds had been deposited in my seller account.
It was exactly the same as the e-mails i receive from Amazon.

Only it wasn't from Amazon. i sent the "Buyer:p " and e-mail, saying that unfortunately i no longer had the phone, and pointed him in the direction of a site where he could get one cheaper.

then i went on to amazon, to Refund him and cancel the listing, tried searcing by, buyer name and user ID, nothing then searched by item name, found the listing, BUT IT HAD NOT SOLD!!!.

Sent the E_mail to Amazon asking if it was real, they sent one back saying no (tone of E-mail seemed Surprised) and told me Not to send out the item.
The fact is if i had the item i would've sent it out.

SO SELLER'S BEWARE (again)

on inspection against a proper marketplace e-mail, the only difference was the fake used my username whereas Amazon Uses your E-mail address.
Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone! just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

on Amazon your things can sit on there for months and you (i) tend to forget they're on there.
but when that happens you can easily refund them at no charge to either party.

oh and if you think ebay's fees are extortionate AMAZON charges =

I have just sent out some books...I hope its all kosher!!!!

I like amazon listings as you know what the charges are ahead....and its alll done for you (you get the credit minus fee) , and of course you only get charged if it sells! And as you you know it could be weeks or months!

I am glad the OP was not scammed !

Why not try both?? It costs nothing to put up your stuff on Amazon, meanwhile
if anything is sold on ebay just remove your amazon listing! My amazon sales trickle through so I am happy enough to keep usuing it :-)....... Thier postage is standard so I usually go for a penny cheaper than the previous listing !!!! It tells you what you would recieve and from that you have your postage cost.

I am decluttering and have a deathrow of books!!!!!
    good luck

the thing about selling books on Amazon is that they pay you a standard £1.25 (i think?) for P&P now this is ok on little paperbacks, but as soon as you sell a hardback it's about £2.50 to send at least!

example i sold Angel Season 1 DVD for £30 including £1.10 for P&P then Amazon took £6 including VAT so that is over 1/6 of the price.
but as you know this in the first place you have to raise your price:confused:

i use it to sell stuff that isn't popular on ebay (like !!!!!!;) )

Thanks for the warning on this dodgy email Chompie

I sell the odd book on Amazon and so far have had no real problems - aside from one payment which did not materialise, but Amazon actually sent me a 'wait until payment is confirmed notice' - It wasn't so I didn't send the book!

I have had the odd 'sell' email which has got lost in the system and taken a couple of days to materialise but normally everything goes very smoothly.

I must admit I regularly go onto my account now and check there to see if anything has sold - rather than just relying on emails coming through. On the back of this scam I think I may check my account to see if payment has definitely gone through before I send my stuff out!
