Homebuyers Survey Results - Would You Be Concerned?

Hi,

Just had a Homebuyers Survey back on a house I am looking to buy, most looks fine but just wanted to see if either of the points below should cause concern:

1) A Protimeter which is a moisture measuring device was used around the property. No adverse readings were obtained to the majority of the property, with the exception of the hallway/living room internal wall, where low localised damp readings were obtained

2) Solar panels have been fitted and these provide an additional source of hot water. It is understood that these are owned by the current vendor and legal advisors should confirm. The vendors advise that the installing company has since ceased trading. Your legal adviser should confirm when the panels were last serviced/maintained and that the installation was conducted by a registered installer to conform with Building Regulation requirements.

Thanks in advance for any help

Steve

I wouldn't be worried. Surveyor usually say something to justify their charges.

Get a proper damp survey. Our home buyers survey reported damp on all external walls. When we had a specialist come round, he found no signs of damp at all.

In regards to the solar panels - do as suggested in the report. Have you mentioned anything to your solicitor yet?

So the only sign of damp he's found is a low amount in an internal wall. Unlikely to be anything serious.

The solar panels - he's just flagging that you need to confirm they've been properly fitted, because you've got no recourse against the company who did them.
