Credit Card Rejection - Advice Needed Please!

Hi All,

I recently applied for a Capital One card to transfer my balances. I was rejected for this card. I found out it was becuase my Dad had "mistakenly" wiped me off the electoral role! (I have 2 other credit cards)

I am now registered again (Electoraal Role), so should I appeal against the decision on the card or apply for a different card?

The excuse for the decline seems quite week, you could write a letter asking them to reconsider but I would probably apply elsewhere if I was you. How long have you had the other cards by the way?

Seemed a poor excuse to me aswell!

I had a mint card about 5 years ago, which got cancelled, then i got an Egg card about 3 years ago and finally I have an MBNA card that I got 2 years ago and have only just started using for the 0% interest on blance transfer.

That does sound like a poor excuse. Normally if that happens they can just ask for proof of address going back so far and would normally be happy.

But if I appeal and it fails, would that go on my credit score as a "bad mark"?

No it will not, and there is no such thing as a "bad mark" on your credit file all it will show is you applied for a credit card and the date of the credit search.
