Tue 3rd Feb - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

allydowd

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

Morning DFW-Jedis,
Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity. Off to the hospital soon with OH and then hopefully straight home for a few things on DFW-style list.
The List
:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies.
:starmod: Do i-Say surveys.
:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.
:starmod: Read news online instead of buying a paper.
:starmod: Will not go to the hospital shop or food court. Will take a flask of coffee. OH can't eat before her scan so that's a breakfast saved!
:starmod: Going to shop around for a CD I want to buy I want it at least half the new price. Tried yesterday but all too expensive.
:starmod: Watch tv later recorded over night.
:starmod: Still haven't bought any de-icer for the car. Instead I cover the front windscreen with a PoundShop shower curtain. This has two benefits: (1) no ongoing purchase of spray (2) no blotchy hands or de-icer soaked gloves when the spray malfunctions.
Freebies
:starmod: Free Amazon e-book "Teacher Beware": (Link)
Well that's me for today. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

Morning
Thanks for starting us off Allydowd. Hope your OH is ok.
I have to go to the dentist shortly, and have made OH get up to take me in the 4x4, as we have snow and ice this morning  I hate driving in these conditions as I had an accident in icy conditions a few years ago. Typical that it should snow the very morning I have to go out early
So, dentists fees to pay so not a NSD. Only a checkup and hygienist though, so not too bad.
Other things today:
No other spends needed!
Check banks
Make bread
Cleaning - carpets today
Decluttering - came to a halt yesterday. Might go through the plastic containers to get me going again. Some of the lock and lock ones don't fasten properly any more, and need to go. Then perhaps move on to the kitchen drawers, or the trunks in the bedrooms which would close easier with less in them!
Meals from stores - I made a pie yesterday and we only ate half, so we can have the rest of that today for dinner, with different vegetables.
Light the wood burner and keep warm
Hope everyone has a good day. Take care if it is icy where you are.0 -

Hi All
So far today I have had to go out early (not Maria early, but Bob early) to let some workmen into the shop. Was there for 8am, wondering if they'd make it due to the snow. Its not too bad in London but they were coming in from further afield. Got back by 9 feeling like I'd already done a days work.
Have so far:
1. Gone around all the rads & taken all the dry items off & packed them away. Then moved all the other still damp items off the drying rack onto the rads. We have heating on for 1 hour in the morning & 2 at night, and that is enough to get 2 loads of washing dry in 2 days. Any longer & it would be musty.
2. We had a number of free items in packaging turn up yesterday, my Amazon Trade in paid for bicycle helmet, & some very late xmas presents. So I have put what is saveable from that lot away in the spare room to use again.
3. First Utility wanted meter reads so have supplied those this morning. I will call them later to find out what we have maaged to reduce on the in deficit amount this month. Its really inspiring to keep all the costs low as I can.
4. Had a phone call with a builder who gave me some good advice re the business premises. He is a good contact I am glad to have.
5. Put husbands old waterproof into the kerbside charity collection bag on the go in our porch. They will collect tommorow. As his old one predates our relationship (of 15 years yesterday) I'd say he got the value from it
6. NSD 3 in a row. I am shocked. I never do this well. Hat Trick!
7. Transferred CB into main account.
8. Music Magpie confirmed they have processed one of the computers we sent off so thats £25 of £45 confirmed.
9. Checked TCB nothing more converted yet.
10. Checked banking & updated free money tracking software to reflect it.
I will leave you with a favorite quote, by one of my heros Warren Buffett

Morning all,
Quick one from me today:
*Laundry done overnight on cheap tariff.
*Dinner will be leftover pie I cooked yesterday with a different selection of vegetables.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Did a few surveys.
*Liberated a stamp.
*Updated budget.
*Turned my HQ storage heater down a notch. (I'm wearing a cami, a top, a jumper & my massive hairy Peruvian cardi - am small wool Yeti)
*Received free breakfast bar for testing.
*De-cluttered today's 3 items.
I don't have many indoor jobs to do today. It's not a gardening day as we've had a layer of snow, so I'm going to put some work into progressing my family tree. I have joined an online research group covering the area from which my family originates. I've received so much free info (cheaper than re-subscribing to 'Ancestry' & regular visits to another part of the country) so am going to make a fresh cafetiere, fortify myself with a banana & make inroads into that. Stay warm everyone.

Thanks Ally for starting us off.
Quiet day for me today MSE wise, but chaotic in work.
Hope for another NSD and need to get my act together re feeding us tonight. We can not live on toast alone even if it is cheap!
