    Hi,

that link says it's a 'Masterlock 5415E', did friend try 5415 as the code?

There are 10,000 different combinations, so could work through them a few at a time over a cuppa, 0000, 0001, 0002,,,,,,,,sleping-smiley.jpg.

Do what most burglars do. Smash it off the wall with a large hammer and then hit it again and it opens. It's surprisingly unsafe........

try calling the local social work department - the person who was previously in the house may have had the keysafe put in to allow carers to get in. The SWD may have the number of their system, if the person has died they should be able to pass the number on if you explain the situation.

Because the buttons are pressed in an ascending sequence and no button is used twice there are surprisingly few combinations in practice. Might try guessing some based on 'what would I have entered '.

Agreed. If it's the same as the 'Keysafe' my mother had, the code is crackable within 20 minutes max (normally around 10 mins), simply by testing each possible option in turn. The fact that there is no duplication of digits makes them an absolute doddle.

If code is 1234 then it you can have any combination of that code and it will still open so relatively few combinations as said. You don't know number of digits could be anything from 1 to 9 but should be easy to crack.
  • Ask the neighbours.

If it was an elderly person they may know the code or be able to guess. It's usually DDMM or MMYY of birthday.

1945 is also popular with old people.

So 4 digits, that makes 10*9*8*7=5040 combinations. 20 mins to try them all? Granted you might be lucky and hit it early, still...

It will be a lot less than that if it doesn't matter what order the digits are entered in. If you decide to try the sequences in ascending order of digits, then there will be no combinations starting with 7, 8 or 9. there will also only be one beginning with 6: 6789. There's only four beginning with 5: 5678, 5679, 5689 and 5789.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
