Okay great thank you.
So I'm just ging to throw this out there as a final opinion based question:
As you know I currently have £15,000 total savings.
I earn around £1,200 a month and pay out around £260 in rent etc.
What would you do with the money if you were me?0 -
Santander 1 2 3 have really strict conditions and the customer services department have not been at all helpful today. Avoid!0

Then I'd post my plan for others to comment on.
Because otherwise you'll get a dozen different suggestions on here and that will confuse you still further.0 -

I can only speak for myself. You may have had a different experience. Unfortunately, the customer service I have received at Santander has been poor.0

All banks have terms and conditions attached to their accounts. You wont find an account without terms and conditions. Santander are no better or worse than the rest of them. If they were consistently far too bad, then they'd have a zero customer base. If their customer service hasn't been good today and you call them again, then you'll no doubt get someone else, and you might find that you have a totally different experience. However, if your call to them was to get them to bend a condition to suit you, then of course they may not be allowed to actually do that for you.0 -

That may be so, only you can tell - but stating "Santander 1 2 3 have really strict conditions" still remains complete rubbish. To recommend people avoid the 123 is even more complete rubbish.
All banks have T&Cs, and it is a good idea to comply with them as it is a contract between you and the bank. In the case of the Santander 123, as with most current accounts from most other banks, the T&Cs are very straight forward and easy to understand.0 -
It is also worth checking out other bank accounts which pay interest.0

As has already been suggested in the first response to the OP.0
