Fire Incident report for property

Does anyone know if it's possible to obtain - post or online - a copy of a Fire Incident report for your or any other property?

  • I have never heard of one before but would also be interested to find out as our property had a house fire some years back.

Ring your local station in the morning (not 999!)
  • Echo location, what are you hoping the report to show?

Make a Freedom of Information request via the relevant Brigade HQ. It's quite a straightforward process. The charge varies from one Brigade to the next, some do not charge at all, others charge up to £100 or thereabouts.

The main reason for this request is to see if any mention is made of the inability to access the rear of the property due to a passageway being blocked by a neighbour.

The fire happened before I owned the property, so I would obviously also like to see any details regarding cause and damage as well.
  • Invite the boys from the Fire Service to give advice on fire prevention: Point out the problem. Try & get their recommendations in writing. Offer tea/coffee & biscuits!

They're not allowed to charge for FOI responses (unless it costs more than £450 for them to answer - which I presume it won't in this case).

Can I assume you have a problem with your neighbour and want to checkout a few things from the past?

You assume correct. The neighbour is not only blocking what is my right of way, but is now intending to build on it. The fire incident report is just something that may assist my case.

What will assist your case better is getting the council involved, they will put a stop to it, you can't get permission to build on a right of way.
