Speaking face-to-face with your manager would be a good start as would reading through the company's staff handbook and your contract of employment.
At one of my previous employers, if you had a week off sick prior to a booked week on holiday, you would only get paid for the holiday week and not for the week off sick unless you provided a note from your GP.
This was introduced due to the number of employees who basically took the mick by having sick days at the begining/end of every holiday they took.
I don't expect them to pay off my sick holiday, let's skip this part.0 -
So - you were off sick for a week, but since you never returned to work the chances are that you never filled in a self-certification form, without which the employer is entitled to refuse to pay SSP because you have provided no verification that you were actually sick. You then went off on holiday without telling them that your were no longer sick for another week. And after that you didn't go back to work, and never intended to, but didn't tell the employer that.
I can see why the employer may not be entirely happy about the way you have acted, can't you? Not "irresponsible" - downright unreasonable. But you still haven't explained what you have written to them. However, if you wish to go and speak to them then that may resolve things. Perhaps it might have been a good idea to go and speak to them in the first place.0 -
So actually I have written formal letter to the office manager of the company POLITELY asking for explanation with my point of view. I did not threaten or verbal abuse at any point. Now I see where may I have done mistake, I did not know about this self certifiaction form, it's my first time in England so I may need to know about certain things.
Thanks for your advices and help, I will try to talk with them at their base.0
