How long did nationwide take to respond.

Anyone who has had their application for a DIP referred how long did it take for a decision??

I really do not have any confidence in my broker as despite taking my credit files etc his first response to me was "these are the top interest rates let's try Santander" we were refused and the application has now gone to nationwide.

Any ideas.... I'm so nervous and stressed out!!

I submitted one on Friday which resulted in a refer.

I immediately uploaded three months bank statements and latest payslip as requested and these have not yet been touched.

I've just called them and they told me it will be Wednesday, possibly even Thursday morning on their current timescales before we have a result.

    Pathetic.

Nationwide are strictly in the category that if they like a case (straight accept) then they like it. If it stays on the standard track, everything happens lovely and at pace.

If there is a refer, or something happens to amend the original application or details; then more often than not it turns ugly.

Best of luck, if we had a refer would already have an alternative and would not necessarily await the impending decline (especially after Santander had declined)

We had a refer initially and we spent around an entire month trying to get them to sort through our documents because they simply cannot do this properly. We had to complain in the end to get it all looked at the way it should have been in the first place.

From initial DIP referral to completion took us around 2.5 months in total. This was not a straightforward case though I will admit, there were technical issues and all sorts.

Do you know why you were refused by Santander?

Are they any blemishes on your credit file?

Where did you find this broker and how much are you paying him?

  • Yes we have a couple of old defaults each. We were sure when we first visited him he said he could get payment from commission but today told us that his fee upon application is £395 which I questioned and he basically said that a lot of time is out in pre application and this fee covers these associated costs.

When were these defaults and how much were they?

A broker should not be changing his mind on fees from one meeting to the next.

    Poor show.

    Where did you find them?

As a broker you worry about getting the mortgage first and the rate second.

We cannot afford string of speculative applications which are declined. We're supposed to ensure the application meets the lender's requirements before we undertake any searches or incur costs on behalf of the client.
