  • They are my local high street broker (we only live in a small town)

We have one default for £100 (registered on both of our files) for British gas £100 Jan 2010

One default on my file for Lowell portfolio £28 July 2011

One default on my husbands file for HSBC £53 September 2009 relating to a bank charge following him closing his current account.

(HSBC have actually agreed to remove this however it is still showing and have been advised that it may take up to a month.)

My Husbands Experian score is Fair whereas mine is poor
  • I just really don't know where to turn, we had initially intended to just wait until all our defaults had dropped off before moving. However on the advise we received from the broker towards the end of last year that we would get a mortgage we put the house on the market. What a fool I have been....

As a broker you worry about getting the mortgage first and the rate second.

We cannot afford string of speculative applications which are declined. We're supposed to ensure the application meets the lender's requirements before we undertake any searches or incur costs on behalf of the client.

Correct - totally puzzled as to why this case was thought suitable for Santander.

We cannot 'advise' you as we do not know your case.

Since your details are already with Nationwide you may as well see what they say - but expect to wait a number of days for a response.

If Nationwide give you a second 'no' you may like to consider if your broker has much experience with patchy credit and elect to use another.

I recommend asking your friends and family or looking on Google and checking out reviews

  • The property that we are looking at has now gone and there is no room to do any gazumping!! How long does the decision in principle remain valid for and what then happens if we find a property costing slightly less?

    Thanks
