expedia won't refund me for overpayment

In February last year myself an 5 other work colleagues booked a 3 night trip to Palma via expedia. All were present at the time of booking. 4 of the 6 were in shared rooms, however two of us wanted the extra space and booked and paid for double rooms with single occupancy. On arrival at the hotel - the party were split between three hotels with the two of who had requested double room/single occupancy being given single rooms with single beds in. Due to our tight itinerary we refused any offers from the hotel (car hire for two days/spa treatments). We spent a few hours over the weekend remonstrating with the hotel staff and having called expedia shortly after our arrival was told it Would be escalated. Here we are 5 months later still trying to get our overpayment refunded. Expedia have offered £30 for the fat the air conditioning wasn't working in one room, but this does not account for our overpayment (approx. £80 each)). Expedia state it is between us and the hotel, but my contract when I booked and paid for standard double rooms is with expedia. I'm having real trouble here.....

  • Your contract is with Expedia I am sure, as you booked through them.
    Keep at them

  • The refund is probably worth about £180 for the 2 of us, plus another £30 for the hassle of arguing with the hotel and continually contacting expedia - however, it's becoming a matter of principle, so if I have to go down this route, I will. Thank you!
