Hello ,I bought a log splitter from Machine Mart with a credit card on the 25/1/15.I use it 2 days later and was not very happy with it because it is designed to spilt logs up to 250 mm wide and it doesn't. I phoned the shop and spoke to the manger and he said to bring it back and they will have a look at it. Took it back on the 29/1/15 and he said I will ring you tomorrow. I phoned them on the 31/1/15 to find out out was going on he said they have had a look and can't find anything wrong I said that it doesn't spilt the logs up the size it design so it not fit for purpose, he then said he will bring in some logs and have a go not spitting them.Hes not phoned back yet and was wondering what to do next ?

Logs vary. If you were trying to split a particularly knotty piece of wood, then most splitters will struggle.
In my opinion he only has to show it splits straight grained wood of the stated size unless it claims to do otherwise.
Why don't you offer to show him how it doesn't split your logs?
But of course you have no obligation to do that.0 -
Hello, thanks for the reply I spoke to the manger yesterday and I'm going to the shop tomorrow with some logs so let's see how I get on .0

Maybe the 250mm is a best case scenario thing? Maybe dry/wet/knotty/different tree/whatever splits OK at the outer bounds of what the tool can handle. 10" is pretty hefty as I'm sure you'll agree if you've been doing them by hand to date!0
