Tesco card options for holidays?

We have used our Tesco card points to save on our holidays but the ratio of conversion is getting worse it seems each year.
Last year we ran near 40k through the card and are frankly disappointed with the "yield" in holiday discounts.
We are open to suggestions as to how to do better?

I don't know about specific "holiday discounts", but general ratio is 1p/£4=0.25%, higher if you use 'points boost'.
There are other cards that give the same or higher cashback in hard cash.
0.5% is pretty common (£200 for £4K spent), but you can do better:

Nationwide Select might be a good option if you want to keep life simple. .05% cashback on UK (pounds) purchases and commission-free purchases abroad. It's also offering 15 months interest free on purchases at the moment. But make sure you chose the correct card!
It's pretty easy to make £120 a year from Halifax with a Clarity bank account and credit card if you spend £300 a month on the credit card. But you need to fund the bank account with at least £1,000 a month and have at least two direct debits in place. Too much faffing around for some.0 -

Assuming you have one of the current Clubcard Credit Cards then for the £40k spend you would have earned 10k points worth £100 off groceries or up to £400 off your holiday.
For holidays you might want to check if you would be better off getting an American Express card that earns Membership Points and converting them to Air Miles.
Alternatively the £40k spend on an American Express Platinum credit card would give you £500 cashback.0 -
We run a small business and are all too well aware who pays for Amex. We refuse to accept them as they cost 7%. We actually hosted a German business man who found himself effectively penniless in the UK as he was unable to use his company Amex anywhere, nor could he get cash.
Tesco points are not it seems capped on holidays which is why we are looking around for a better way to manage ours.
Nationwide CC seemed a way to go but it needs money running through a current account which we are not in a position to do.

Sorry but that's total nonsense. It's never been as high as 7%, but in the last couple of years they have reduced their merchant charges significantly - it now costs me slightly less to accept Amex than a Mastercard!0 -

Have you tried Paid To Shop? They cover various incentive schemes, including Tesco, and how to maximise travel rewards.

Oops typo.

Should have read: Tesco points are now it seems capped on holidays which is why we are looking around for a better way to manage ours.
It was out Bank Manager who told us Amex cost 7% and so we took that as being correct. Bear in mind what one business is charged is not the same as another or so we are led to believe. We are below the VAT limit btw so not a massive turn over. It is quite possible that anothers experience is not the same as one owns making "nonsense" actually quite rational.
