OS Daily Monday 2nd February 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, looks cold and frosty.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work.
I’ll be waking DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.
Dinner yesterday was cook from frozen roast pork with stuffing joint, new potatoes, carrots, pan fried spring greens, green beans, peas and gravy. We ate at 5pm ish, and I’d done everyone bacon rolls for a late lunch. Tonight we’ll be having fish, chips/jacket potato, and beans/veg.
Weekend was lovely, although the wind was very cold and was very blustery yesterday. We had quite a snow shower Saturday late morning/lunchtime and the snow started to lay, but then the snow turned wet/sleety, then became rain, and 2 hours afterwards all the snow had gone. Wind is still bitter though. The dinner was lovely and food of good quality, met some old friends and made some new one’s. I also won the flowers from the centre of our table, they put all the ladies names in a hat from each table and pick a winner, I’ve never won them before so have a lovely flower arrangement sitting on the side board. We’re not away this next weekend, but DS1 has his driving experience on Saturday morning, so we’ll be taking him to do that.
Back to work this morning, will possibly be another manic Monday, or the cold weather may put people off. Last week it was fairly quiet to start off with then became very busy later, as if people had decided to wait to see if it warmed up a bit!
Have good Monday’s everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Chilly start here, yesterday was bitter but dry and sunny. I put the washing on the line before I went out and it was dry when I came back and smells so good. Hoping it's nice again today as I have 3 loads to get dry including my bedding.
DD persuaded me to go to Edinburgh yesterday and although I still wasn't feeling too good I had a lovely day, very relaxed. Had a slow wander round and then had a really good, inexpensive Asian meal. Only bought some sinus tablets at the shops! I have to say I feel heaps better for my day out and some tablets!
We didn't want any dinner when we got back so will have the roast chicken tonight. The builder is coming to see what needs to be done so will work dinner round that.
Hope you all had a good weekend and enjoy the week ahead. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Still getting used to not having the boy around. Instead of the walk this morning i did some Tai Chi instead and i am going to try pilates tonight .
Back to work today to heavens know what as we have been really busy.
Dinner tonight will either be cottage pie or steak and kidney pie (got both meats cooked in fridge just got to decide what. Dh is home tonight as he now no longer works evenings as well so going to be yet another change to routine. DD1 has a job interview today for the first time in 2 years (returning to work after having my DGD) So fingers crossed for her.
DD2 has the day off so didnt need to drag her out of bed this morning.
DW emptied and need to put some washing on but apart from that and work not a lot on.
Anyhoo hugs to all in need x
(Thank you for all your kind messages and posts over the passing of Barney boy, it touched me and meant the world to read them all xxxx)Bright Blessings xx0 -
Morning all. Brr it feels bitter this morning. Just looked out and all the lying snow looks frozen solid. I don't think we'll ever be shut of it!
Well yesterday Mr TA's morbid mood had passed thank goodness. Just not like him at all. It's me that worries what MIGHT happen. His philosophy is that worrying won't change the outcome.
We plan on having a day out today. Thought maybe a run up to the Dales and a nice pub lunch somewhere. Grassington looking a likely spot with a wander round Skipton market on route - that's if any of the stallholders are brave enough to stand there all day in this bitter cold weather. Their takings must really nosedive in winter, what with bad weather and lower visitor numbers.
Hugs LWW. Having lost three aged doggies over the years I know just how you are feeling.
Have a good day all whatever you are doing. Take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Moring all,
Very cold here again this morning no sign of snow here although we have been told to expect some on Wednesday.
Down my down walking jackets washed and dried yesterday so they are looking much better, also got the bedding washed and nearly dried on the line, a quick blast in the td finished it off.
Off to work today. We have a roast when we get in tonight cooked double yesterday so we just need to heat it up once we are in.
Listed some bits on ebay and one thing shot up from 99p for £103 last night :T so very pleased about that, it will all go in our holiday fund.
Right better get on have good days all and hugs to Lonewhitewolf xxx
Meant to say, Sistercas hope you are ok, not seen you for a while xx0 -
Good morning everyone
Sorry to hear the news about your dog LoneWhiteWolf, I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a beloved pet especially in such tragic circumstances. Sending you a big hug xx
Usual Monday morning for me, hubby gone off to work and kids running around getting ready for school. Eldest DD is going to drop off my grandson while she works this morning so I foresee a morning of Peppa PigI have got a banana ready for him and milkshake is on standby. He's so funny, he has to have the same routine or he's all over the place, like a little old man :rotfl:.
Tea tonight is easy as everyone wanted chicken goujons, wraps and salad. Ideal...just got to pop the chicken in the oven and make the salad. Love it, I wish every meal was as easy. Tomorrow I am attempting a sausage and egg plait with some leftover sausagemeat from Christmas. The last time I made one was at school so I think I shall be hunting around for some tips. I've ordered some more meat from MuscleFood and that is coming on Wednesday hopefully, so my meal plans for the rest of the week revolve around that.
I slept much better last night, I forgot to say snoozer that I do already have sleep apnea and wear a mask to bed...sexy...if you are into elephants :rotfl::rotfl:. I have clipped on my fitbit today and will see if I can beat my previous record. Shouldn't be too difficult as it's surprisingly hard to rack up steps when you hardly go out! If the weather stays dry I might walk Meg around the block with my grandson. It will do all three of us good.
Well, that's all my waffle for now. Glad to hear Mr TravellingAbuela has got his positive head on again. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up too. Take care xx0 -
Morning everyone.
My 104 mile trip down to work this morning was surprisingly good. No bad weather (slight frost on the car but soft), only two log lorries with lovely drivers who helped me overtake them, and very little traffic. Thought it may have been much worse but was here in just a little over two hours.
Had breakfast at my desk. After work I've got to collect a JL order from Waitrose. It should have been at the shop on Thursday but didn't turn up until Saturday, not sure what's going on with them.
Brought my chicken lunch with me and will not have too much for evening meal.
Right, off to the piles of papers!
Hope everyone is doing well today.0 -
Good Morning everyone, cold again today but bright and the cold wind seems to have died down so hopefully being outside will be less painful too.
Making leek and potato soup for our lunches for the next few days, I shall be AWOL from Wednesday to Saturday as I have to go Zebra sitting due to last minute work commitments from his Papa, and again for 2 days next week as both parents are going to be out from 7 to 7 in the evening but I think next week I'll take him to nursery rather than have the whole day with him like I shall on Thursday. He loves going and I don't want to be selfish and keep him home. Going on to stay with eldest DD for the day on Friday and coming home on Saturday.
Have yourselves a nice day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning :hello:
lonewhitewolf I'm sorry about Barney  xx
It's still very cold here but I need to make a start outside. I'll wrap up warm and make coffee in my thermal mug. I'm only intending to stay out for half an hour but I usually end up thinking 'oh just clear that little bit while you're here' and staying out for hours. The problem is forcing myself out into the cold in the first place
I have a long list to get through over the next few days, I'm going to speed through it today and get as much done as possible. I want a me-day at some point this week, I'm determined to make it happen

Morning, plumber here, bad news is he will have to order a part for the toilet, so we will still be using the bucket to flush!!
We had frost when we went to bed, but by the time we got up this morning it had gone, laundry out on the whirly, I did manage to get it dry yesterday, there was quite a bit of wind.
Fine, but brrrr..............outside.0
