Hi,
On my Panasonic tv the two HDMI ports are full, as are the other inputs with various things.
I may get a chromecast in future (already got nowtv with plex) but as chromecast needs a free HDMI port and I have already used up the two with a dvd player and nowtv box, I wonder if there is such a thing as a HDMI adapter that will allow a hdmi port to accept two items, though not at once obviously?
Thanks for any advice.
John

What you need is a HDMI switch, you can get them from about a fiver for a simple one.
I've bought these (both the 3 port version linked and a five port one), to give me more HDMI ports on different TV's and they work well, they're auto switching but as that can have issues if the devices you're using don't turn off fully (IE they just go into standby, or not off at all*) when you turn the next one on, they've also got a little remote.
This sort of cheaper switch should work as well, but if it gets confused you'd have to walk over to it and press the button on it (the horror!)
The first one I linked to needs to be plugged into the mains so that's a downside, as is the price at about £12 vs about £4 for the second.
Don't forget you'll also need an extra HDMI cable to hook the switch to the TV in addition to the normal one per device.
*If you hook say an STB up to the switch and the STB doesn't go into standby when you want to use the other devices that are connect it can confuse any auto switching HDMI switch (In my case the computer is one of the devices connected, and as that is almost always on when I watch TV, auto switching isn't reliable).0 -

You can get a HDMI switch/splitter on Ebay for about a fiver free postage. Im using Chromecast through one of these as I have the same issue has you but im havving issues with video quality from my pc to tv at the moment. I use netflix and have XBMC media centre but the picture is not running fluently. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
Ive got a 3 way HDMI splitter, the only issue i have run into is my PS3 will not pass through it at 1080p, only 1080i. PS4 does 1080p as doest others so god knows why the 3 wont work properly:beer:0

Well I got the cheaper one,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kinps%C2%AE3-1080P-V1-3b-Switch-Splitter/dp/B00N8R6T6G/ref=sr_1_20?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422851537&sr=1-20&keywords=hdmi+switch
Works ok with manual switching but as I have a nowtv box and dvd player hooked up to it, and the nowtv box doesn't have a on/off button maybe that's why it won't do the auto switching.
The cheaper one that I got does look the same as the neet one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Neet-3-WAY-hub-splitter-switcher-HDTV-HDMI-AUTO-SWITCH-/111589561980?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item19fb41967c
which is more expensive,
Thanks
