Filled in wrong name on Card Application-will it go on my profile?

Long story short my fianc! got me to complete the application form for her credit card, but I put in my surname! (Schoolboy error!) it wasn't her surname, and wint be until we are wed in August. We believe the application was rejected after it initial instant acceptance. We understand this totally.

We want to apply again but we are concerned that this will have still credit checker her profile. The address details, previous address first name, DOB and all other detail will have been correct but not the surname.

I am thinking as they name didn't match they won't have been able to check anyone's profile.

Can some advise so we can proceed to apply again (with the right name!)

Check their credit file and see whats recorded.

Dont pay for the credit scores etc. Just use the free trial or pay the £2 fee.

  • Perhaps I should have explained. We know we can check her report, and we do so using noddle.we had already applied for one card and wanted a second, and this was it. If it would go on we profile it wouldn't be on their until the credit lenders push out to the agencies (once a month)

We don't want to wait that long to re-apply as then first first card application will be there and have negative impact on the second application.

Can she call the lender and query the application? Say she put her future married name by mistake?

I once put the wrong month of birth and they just told me to apply again and I was accepted.

Two credit searches aren't that bad to be honest.

We already called and the card company and they said it was declined, that team didn't know the specifics why, but we think that was obvious. I assume this was as they could find the name at the address. We just want to know if we can try again and some confidence it won't have touched her profile, we can wait until it appears or doesn't on her profile.

I work in application fraud. There's a good chance the details you provided resulted in a lack of any credit being pulled through, which can sometimes be an indicator of identity fraud. I.E; false address for a real person who lives 1 road over. Could be the reason for the insta-decline.

The likelihood is they found nobody by that name and it wasn't recorded as a search. If they had found her, they likely would've asked for proof of name change or alias link.

Worst case scenario, they have a dupe application for her under different names and may do extra security (ID etc).
