&More monthly payments.

in Credit cards
I have just opened an &More credit card for carrying out a balance transfer after seeing it in the weekly email.
I prefer to pay monthly bills by direct debit as I am very good at getting a bill in the post and forgetting about it but you cannot do this with the &More. If you want to pay by direct debit you can only choose between paying the entire amount in full or only paying the minimum amount. If, like I do, you want to pay a fixed monthly amount to clear the debt you have to do it by posting a cheque or paying instore.
Now,, would it be very cynical of me to think that this was done to either trap people into paying the minimum and therefore generating more money in interest or to increase the chances of people being late/missing payments and generate more money in fees?

Hmm.. I suppose you're right regarding the money-making schemes. Still I suppose you could set up a standing order with your bank so that you're crediting your &more card with your set amount every month? As opposed to using their direct debit?Official DFW Nerd Club: Member No: 6190

you can make a one off payment via internet banking or by phone or set up standing order or pay at a bank or send a cheque.0

I always reckon its best to set up a minimum DD just to cover your minimum payments then to pay extra by another method such as cash, cheque, debit card etc.
With the min DD set up it means theres no risk of a late payment fee.0 -
Hi, Im looking for advise on defaults on my credit file. I currently have 5 defaults on credit file which the latest defaulted date being 26/6/02 which is just over 5yrs to this day, I believe that defaults come off your credit file after 6yrs which is about 11months time. the highest default i have is with the bank to the amount of £6320, The res are for the amounts of £1762, £270, £173, £0 which is settled but still defaulted. I have completely changed in the way i handle my money and not beable to obtain credit is holding me back from getting a joint morgage with my wife. What do i do do i write to these companys asking them to remove my defaults or do i just wait until the 6yrs are up and they will be removed automatically im wanting to get a morgage next august thats why im trying to act on it now to have a good credit score. Your advise on this whould be greatful thanks.0

I pay £50 (min usually about £44) a month to my &more card by internet home banking. It can be set up for as many months in advance as you care to and for any amount you choose.

Another option is the ability to go into store to make a payment, especially good if you have some spare cash during the month. You go with your card to the till (usually fashions ones are best since some Food depts in some stores (not mine I'd add!) get funny about doing it (God knows why).
Give them your &More and cash / cheque / debit card, and they'll make the payment and give you a receipt for it. Usually takes 2 days to hit your account, and a lot of people like doing it when they do their weekly shopping.
