Ive had plusnet for 3 months without a problem but the last week my broadband router seems to be playing up, my computer is connected wireless to the router but when I open the browser sometimes I get a plusnet webpage showing "Login
Enter your username and password to access your Technicolor Gateway. " and when I enter my username and password it says they are incorrect, do you think it is a scam webpage

It's not a scam webpage, it's the login for the router's own config pages. The username is 'admin' and the password should be the serial number printed on the bottom of the router.

By default, all web pages get re-directed to this page when your broadband is down, first option to try is usually to turn everything off for 5 mins and turn it back on again and see what happens. If that fails, it's call plusnet time.

The logon details are for the settings of your router. Not the same as your broadband logon details.

I suggest you shut down your computer and switch off the router.
Switch the router back on and wait for the lights to settle down. Then turn on the computer and see if it connects.
If you still have problems ring Plusnet 0800 432 0200. My experience is that they are very helpful.

Yes just give them a call. Your router should be covered be 12 months warranty. My Plusnet fibre router failed after 9 months, and I got it replaced FOC without much squabble. They did very nearly sent out an engineer, but after the router working again and failing again they agreed it seemed like the router had failed.
What is the internet like wired? The reason I ask is the problem could be a wireless one.

I think the wifi is OK as he's getting as far as the router's settings

Also - the age of the router may not be relevant as Plusnet will get it working.
Do just check that all phones are filtered. (have you changed anything?)

You could try swapping to the second filter which they seem to include with the router when it arrives.
It solved a problem ours developed some months in.

I am with plusnet and have the same problem. I rang the helpline and there is a recorded message saying a lot of customers are having issues and they are working to resolve it, I am assuming that these are the issues they are referring to.
  • Thanks for replies I will try the username "admin" and look under my router for serial number and maybe a lot of people are having this problem

The username should be the one that shows up automatically and the password is the one you used to register with. I know this as I looked it up in the book that came with the router. Good luck let us know if it recognises it or if admin and router number work, maybe that is where is was going wrong.

...... but don't change any settings unless you know what they should be. My advice is have a look but change nothing.

Just changed over to Plusnet on 21st January

    Had same problem.

    Fixed for me
    type in 192.168.1.254

Click basic settings, You should see a broadband username. It should match the username you used to sign up to plusnet with.

    Mine did not.

changed the username to the "broadband username provided in the email received from plusnet not long after signing up.

    mine being "petie*******@plusdsl.net"

Do not touch the password .

Go back to home tab, click connect

    No problems since
