DSR stands for Distance Selling Regulations, which were superseded last June by The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
  • Ah ok. Thank you. I'm going to push them because I think their policy is silly! We will see if I get anywhere. To those that suggested returning all - I would have done, but I've worn it all! Thanks for your help.

They don't know that. I'd give them a call and try it on a bit.

Politely ask that the refund be made to your card, as you already spent the gift card on the items you kept. If they won't budge, point out that you are within your rights to return the entire order, which would require them to refund both the gift card and cash portion of the sale, at which point you can simply rebuy the things you want using the gift card. Rather than make you jump through all those hoops and end up with a very unsatisfied customer and more returned goods, wouldn't it be far easier to just refund to your card in the first place?

If they say they can't refund to card, ask for a manager who can. I'd actually go as far as asking for them to start the returns process on the other things you bought, all the time staying polite and asking why on earth their processes require the customer to jump through so many hoops to achieve a simple end result.
  • Hi, I have just had a similar thing. I paid for a large online order with an evoucher (from a previous refund) and credit/debit card. I returned part of the order. HoF have refunded the entire of the evoucher and taken payment form my card. They say this is in the terms and conditions so will not change. I am going to complain higher up but am interested in my rights. I think I have a fair expectation that they take payment from the money I have already given them (evoucher) rather than take none from that. The evoucher is for almost £170 so it's a large amount I would have to spend AGAIN in their store. I didn't see it in the terms and conditions (how valid are they when you have to tick them so regularly to do anything - I'm unclear) but think I have a fair expectation that they take from the voucher first. If the terms and conditions are binding where should I go next to report it as an unfair trading standard? Any help very welcome. Am shocked by House of Frasers practice here, I thought they were a reputable store and wasn't expecting what I see as practically theft.
First time of posting on this forum so hope that is an acceptable level of outrage!
