Hello all,

I was looking through some filed documents and found this supplement called Interface from The Times newspaper, dated Monday April 10th 2000. It contained a 2 page feature about moving home using online tools and sites.

On one of the pages, I noticed a sidebar titled "Step-by-step guide to buying online" that shows a list of websites that enable you to search for a home, search for financing & search for help.

I thought it would be interesting to post a photo of that list and trigger a discussion on how the online moving process has changed since 2000 and what's happened to some of the online players that were prominent 15 years ago. I notice that Rightmove was originally founded by 4 corporate estate agents and mortgage lenders: Countrywide, Connells, Halifax and Royal and Sun Alliance. In what way does this make it different to the recent launch of Onthemarket.com, which is also founded by another agent's group (Agents Mutual Ltd)?

    Rightmove has come to dominate.

The remainder either don't exist anymore, or are also-rans.

Predictions then about how online agents would replace the traditional business model haven't come to pass.

Seems like something that should be on the Debate board.

Odd. Asserta is missing off there.

At the time, it was the main challenger to RightMove.
