G24 Parking Charge - Toys R Us, Forbury Retail Park, Reading

Hello, all.
I write to get some advice on how to fight the parking charge sent to me after I was stung by the PPC operating at Toys R Us in Reading.
I've only recently moved to Reading from Scotland to work on a project (I'm a contractor) and the letter demanding £75 was sent to the RK address in Scotland.
I have read the Newbies thread and taken a copy of the Appeal Template to send off as soon as I have the letter to get the relevant details.
However, there is a LOT of information to take on board, so I didn't understand the stuff about taking the appeal to POPLA - which seemed to suggest that POPLA appeals have to be customized for the specific case and it's not a generic template?
Your assistance is appreciated.

Plenty of possibilities, including ignoring. G24 have never taken a person to court where the RK address was in Scotland, and would have to prove to the Sheriff who the driver was.
If you do want to fight the good fight, still do it from Scotland if possible.0 -

Thanks for the info, BenefitMaster.
So even though I am currently living/working in England, I can carry on as though I am covered by the laws of Scotland due to the car being registered there? I.e. PPCs haven't got a leg to stand on in Scotland and can be treated with the contempt that they deserve?
If I can ignore it then, absolutely, that is the preferable option! But as the "offence" was in England, I don't want to find myself facing legal action due to my ignorance of the law.0 -
in this case , as its G24 , popla doesnt apply
the appeals service for G24 is the IAS provided by the IPC, a kangaroo court with little hope of success, so even if you appeal, you may well fail and be left in the same boat as detailed by BM above, so its the IAS appeals that are bespoke , more so than popla anyway
G24 used to be in the BPA, so popla was the best option
now they arent, so not possible any more
only you can decide what to do , but there is no keeper liability in scotland0 -

Ok, I think I will send them the standard "Your claim has no basis" letter and consider the matter closed since they can't come after me as I'm technically in Scotland.

When you register your car in England, as you will legally have to do at some stage, they can come after you for up to 6 years.
If they are bloody minded, they can trace you when you register anything such as your bank a/c address, any HP, possibly motor insurance if you pay monthly (not 100% sure about this last point and I could be wrong).
So, if they can trace you to England, then they can come after you in years to come.
For 100% safety, back over Hadrian's wall and into Alex Salmond's protective arms - or is that the blessed Nicola now?0 -

What are you hoping to achieve by writing to them?
'Ignore' is the standard advice in/for Scotland - and that means literally every element of 'ignore'.
The more you correspond with them, the more they will correspond with you. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Oh, ok! That's precisely the short answer I was looking for; if I can just ignore them totally due to the car still being registered in Scotland.
What I hoped to achieve by replying to them with the standard letter was them in turn sending back a "The charges are waived, this matter is closed" letter.
Guys Dad, yes I think it might be safer for me across the border where I don't have to worry about such things. In England, Even parking can give you a coronary!
Thank you all.0 -

I object to being referred to as "a grown up", thank you very much!
Thanks for the advice, All. I've been bricking it for the last couple of weeks thinking that I'm done for.
I'll just have to offload this motor and get a different vehicle to register in England so I can't be found.0 -
Facetiousness aside, there will be a few more letters from them and/or their tame debt collectors. None of which are of any concern (just file and retain - standard advice for any written communique alleging you owe anyone any money).
Sooner or later one of their !!!!!! will realise where Scotland is and that they're chasing shadows North of the border - before they give up.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum.
