Travel pillow - any good recommendations?

I'm heading off to South Africa on an overnight flight and think that I would be better to buy a travel pillow. I do not want an inflatable one as believe that they are not very comfortable but want one that can be either compressed or does not take up too much room. I have been looking at this one and wonder if anyone had any experience or it.It appeals because it is not too bulky. But I am concerned that it only supports one side of my head so if I turn my head I will have no support.

Alternatively should I just go for a standard memory foam one and try and squash it into my hand luggage. One such as this.

Or does anyone have any suggestions of pillows that they have used and found comfortable and supportive.

I always prebook a window seat and just use my coat / jacket / hoody / extra blanket or whatever. Once I've convinced myself I'm going to have a good sleep it just happens. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

I always use a large towel so that i can roll it up and tuck behind my neck. Does the job wellFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Neither would help me, i never sleep for longer than about 15 minutes on any flight, overnight or not. I resign myself to the fact. It's no big deal really. A premature baby who never slept for more than 4 hours until she was 2 cured me of my need for meaningful sleep.0

You can buy the polystyrene ball filled ones that are in the shape of a horse shoe from the pound shops, they are normally by the car part section. These are just as good as the more expensive ones as I have tried and tested.
Think they only come in 2 colours PINK or BLUE0 -
My teen swears by one I picked up in Poundland. For £1.
Mrs PW just curses me for booking her in to economy.
I just sleep anyway and wake up aching.
Good luck!0 -
We bought the amazon one, mainly because the cover is removable and washable. Big success.0

Thanks for the suggestion. Could be a useful tip.0 -

This won't work for me as I have aisle seats both ways chosen so I don't have to clamber over someone else if I want to get up. Hence need for a pillow.0 -
I had high hopes of the J Pillow, widely available, which we purchased for our trip to Australia last year. Unfortunately, it wasn't much help, although I find it difficult to sleep on a plane anyway. I agree with another poster in that the window seat is best for trying to snatch a nap, as you can lean on blankets and pillows. I do see people sleeping successfully with travel pillows, but I have a feeling that they are the kind of people who can sleep anywhere, unlike me.0
