Worldwide laptop insurance

I'm pretty sure that a decent home insurance policy with personal possessions cover would address all the issues you have.
Okay so I've found contents insurance that costs ~£80 annually and has no fees for cancellation. So any issue you foresee with taking out a policy and then cancelling once I get back for a total cost of approx £7?0 -
If you do claim on it, what happens when you want to get content insurance in the future? They will ask you whether you have claimed before.
Let us say you do claim, and they actually offer you £500, less £100 excess, so you get £400. You will be paying extra for content insurance for a few years, until the claim drops off the history horizon.
They are not born yesterday. You need to check they don't have a minimum time before you can make a claim. I also find the no cancellation fee thing dubious. They will probably charge you for the days already covered, with a minimum cover period.0 -

Why is this an issue or any more of an issue than any other claim?
I hope I don't have to claim but that's why I'm buying insurance...Let us say you do claim, and they actually offer you £500, less £100 excess, so you get £400. You will be paying extra for content insurance for a few years, until the claim drops off the history horizon.
Why would they offer £500 for a £1200 item on a policy where it's insured for £1200? And I don't use contents insurance because it's not good value for me.They are not born yesterday. Obviously I pay pro-rata which is completely fine by me. I don't want to pay 12 months for 1 month which seems reasonable.
So, any issue?0 -

I think they are going on with the other persons experience of having an age deduction made however home insurance is almost exclusively new for old on anything other than clothes and so it isnt an issue. Gadget insurance and travel are often written on an indemnity basis so its value at the time of loss rather than its new replacement value.
Just make sure your £80 includes personal possessions/ all risks with a suitable single article limit. Also make sure that there are no special terms applied to laptops as some budget policies do.0 -
Will do. But so far it sounds like a goer?0
