Urgent help needed re updates

I have a tablet as my laptop died on me.

I stupidly signed up for a Google account and today when I switched on the Google updates have went mad.

How do I either get rid of this account or stop the updates.

Thanks for advice, please remember I'm not techie minded.
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

    Well Google updates what needs updating only .
    Let them update but over WiFi .
    Bit difficult to use an Android phone without a Google account .

    Settings >> Application Manager >>>
    Google Account Manager clear data
    Google Play Store clear data .

    Or go to the Play Store, and in the settings disable auto-updates. If you want, you can also disable update notifications.

    Why do you want to disable updates? If you do that, you'll be stuck with insecure, outdated software.
