Inner pane of double glazing unit shattering for no apparent reason

Hello
i have a pretty new (1 year old) double glazing unit in my front bay window in my living room. I have just noticed that 1 small upper pane is badly shattered on the inside. It is just about holding together. The larger panel underneath is unaffected. I can't think how i could have caused it for several reasons.
1. it is above head level for me
2. It doesn't open so I can't have caused it while doing that.
3. I rarely go right up to the window as there is a table just in front.
The blind could have banged against the frame but i can't see how it could have caused so much damage to the window.
Has anyone had apparently spontaneous shattering like this?

Sounds like its toughened by saying badly shattered . its probably not your fault but either a fault in the glass on manufacturing or making into a unit , a problem when glazing either not on a block or sitting wrong when the beads are puy on . maybe chipped and stress of the frame moving ( like it should) causing it to shatter . its still under guarantee so call the company back as its nowtto do with anything you've done . let us know how you go . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Spoke to them yesterday and emailed photos of the damaged window. No reply yet.0 -
Another theory
When the old wooden window was removed was it load bearing? (as some old windows were) and if it was, did the window fitters put a new linetl/ support in?
Some window fitters will just leave the brickwork leaning on the window or 'just leave it' so youve got weight bearing on the window0 -
Your right but its the downstairs bay so I expect it to be load baring or would presume it to be . has the new frame got poles or posts in ? Are they fitted correctly ? Great shout JC . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
