best U18 locked in savings

i want to lock £1500 away for my 13 1/2 year old son which will only be accessible to him once he turns 18, who / where would be the best option to lock this in for the next 4 1/2 years?

    I had my sons savings in a childs savings account with the halifax, but he is coming up to 18 this year and i put it all in a savings account in my name- because- if i gave it him now he would spend it.
    Whereas the intention was for it to help him through uni on a monthly basis!

    So just be careful what your son might do with the money!
