Anyone know anything about QNAP NAS. Bought a new one last week and went to set it up but connection kept dropping out. Turned off firewall and AV software and retried with the same result.
Changed out my network switch for a new one I had and got connection ok, though, fine bad switch.
Ran through the setup and started transferring data to the NAS. (lot of data so would take about 10 hours so left it and went to bed.
Got up this morning and went to check on the transfer to find it had stopped after about 2hrs. Tried to connect to the NAS again and could not see it on the LAN. Rebooted the nas, while rebooting the NAS LAN light is on but once it boots fully the lan light goes off and the lights on the switch where the NAS plugs into go off.
I suspect that there is either a problem with the network settings on the NAS or a fault with the NAS itself.
User manual gives no suggestions and the QNAP forum has nothing either. I have sent an email to QNAP technical support but going by reviews I am unlikely to hear anything back from them.
I plugged in my old synology NAS using one of the cables supplied with the QNAP and it connected straight away (just to test the switch and cable).
Any help would be greatly appreciated otherwise I will have to return the NAS.
