Sat/Sun 31 jan and 1 Feb 2015. What small DFW stuff will you do today?

:):):)
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:):)

    Morning all.
Started us off but could not get the smiley in the heading - sorry.

Hopefully a productive day. Slept badly so will not try to rule the world today, quiet day at home methinks. Can catch up with recorded TV.
    WM and DW on.
Need to move a mountain of DS2 washing.
Mr T due 9-10 so need to bleach fridges before he gets here.
    Clean floors
light fire, it is freezing in here, we still have no CH on and are relying on log burner.
    clean windows
    feed birds
tidy yard, steptoe and son would be proud of our mess
    nap.

Hope everyone well and having a good day. x

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning Maria
Well I feel positively lazy compared to you. Son & OH let me have a lie in till 7.30 & I'm just waiting for my bacon sandwich to arrive :)
It's snowing here but not settling.
I'm doing a short shift today & tommorow so that will help the household pot.
Today is a NSD for me. I did have a target of 18 for the game I have been plying with the NSTs but at 16 days I think I've done well. Start again tommorow.
The insurance policy I mentioned we took out, the lady has given us £250 as a thank you for being long term clients and putting a lot of business her way over the 8 years weve known her. We had no idea it would be so much so currently having a pow wow on what to do with it.

little man is off to a birthday party. Card from drawer. Recycled wrapping paper & unopened re gifted game so zero spend. I do feel a twinge of meanness but that's society norms for not purchasing a gift. What I am providing is a lovely gift a young child will be delighted with.

Will be walking to and from work spying out for pennies. Have hit over £3 in roadkill this month.
    Think that's it.

    have a good day all.

  • Morning Maria and Bob and all subsequent posters :)

Not going to be a very DFW day for me today. My brother and his OH are coming for a takeaway and movie night. Our half of the takeaway is coming from the Grocery Budget, so my OH is under strict instruction not to over order! Also, the cheap cider we got from Aldi (Weston's Cider. Good stuff!) was "accidentally" consumed while we watched a movie last night. OH will be off to town to top up.

Will also have to put the heating on :(

    DFW things I can do...
    • Make sure budgets are up to date
    • Sort out some clothes for charity
    • C25k (didn't do this yesterday as I was waiting for Yodel almost all day)
    • Breakfast and Lunch from our stores
    • Set up second purse

    Have amazing weekends!

    - set a reminder to turn heating off in a hour and half as I always forget
    - check banking, direct debits going out etc
    - some crafting/painting with children - free entertainment

    Good Morning All

Maria - Thanks for starting us off today

Gosh, I feel positively exhausted reading some of those lists - epic. Mine is not so :rotfl: Didn't get up while almost 10 so have just had a cuppa and got dressed before hubster gets home from work. Today will be a ... not sure day as we are off to the "big" shopping centre later armed with vouchers/giftcards etc (so may not work out too expensive) - we have a list of what we want/need and should be not too much browsing. Then tonight my darling step-daughter is taking me to the theatre to see "To Kill A Mockingbird" (part of my Christmas pressie) so that's a really nice treat - she is so good to me - feeling blessed. Just a few extra bits to do (over the weekend)

Remove old kitchen blind (new one being done Monday - its a massive kitchen window and we've managed to find one supplied and fitted for less than supply only - so seems silly for OH to struggle)

Investigate waterbutt on decking - we have a waterfall over side (last time a squirrel managed to get in and was floating on the top)

Investigate what DS has on his phone (he's always on it and assures me its costing nothing - some app or other :o)

Take care, stay safe and catch you all soon

    Love

Not a lot but.....I cleaned the oven.

We are having a movie night with the grandchildren so we will watch a free film on Netflix (free on virginmedia offer) and have homemade popcorn (popping corn already in the cupboard and 1 large tablespoon makes so much popcorn for the kids).

  • Morning all

Very wild and wet here, our garage seems to have converted itself into a swimming pool. Ah well!

So, today's list is not as big as I hoped as won't be getting out and about, but here goes...
    • Make lunch from what's in fridge
    • Dinner from store cupboard
    • Quick visit to the butcher's round the corner to stock up for the week
    • Phone BT back about changing Broadband
    • Check Swagbucks and Onepoll
    • 10 minute housework - bedroom on a Saturday
    • Put on two loads of washing
    • Work on a short story
    • Check internet banking
    • List some stuff on ebay
    • Package up CDs for Music Magpie

I think that's enough! Have a good weekend everyone
