Empty, unused accounts - better closed?

Is it better to close empty currant and savings accounts, or do they do no harm? Obviously, I mean free ones with no charges.

I would use the 7 day switch to open new Bank Accounts for the £100/125 on offer from various Banks and then close them if not needed.
