switching energy provider & FIT

We have solar panels and receive FIT payments from our energy provider (Scottish Power), but I'm pretty sure that we could get a better tariff elsewhere. I've always been nervous to even try to switch because of the difficulty with the FIT. Does anyone have any experience of this? Are energy companies willing to take on customers who generate as it costs them?

  • I had Absolutely no problems, I was with EDF 3 years ago when I had the solar PV installed. Then I moved to Co-op energy and now with Flow Energy, (recommended by money saving energy club last year)
My Fits are still paid by EDF with no problems at all, pretty seamless. My new energy companies do not even know I have PV because they never asked. One point is that many of the smaller companies do not have to administer FIT payments but my experience with my previous energy company EDF is that they still pay me reliably and on time. So my advice is switch your energy to a better deal.

Same as above. You'd have to switch your FIT provider separately as well as your energy provider if you wanted someone else to deal with both. I left my fits with Scot Power as they pay the same rate either way, and I just transferred my energy provider only and thanks to MSE, I'm about to do it again lol.
